#BlackGirlMagic has become such a popular phrase born out of social media usage in the last few years that songs have been written about it and names as big as Michelle Obama have tweeted it. University of Rhode Island student Kayla Laguerre-Lewis reflects on the phrase and what it’s meant to her following a period of burnout in her sophomore year.
