Rhode Islanders love the state’s famous quahogs. But the clamming industry has shrunk dramatically since its heyday in the 1980s and 90s.

All of the upper portion of Narragansett Bay, pictured above, had been closed to shellfishing. However, DEM has modified that closure to include only a small portion along Warwick's coast.
