What’s happening in your health in Rhode Island, March 28:

GOP HEALTH CARE PLAN: Rhode Island health officials are breathing a sigh of relief over the failure of the GOP plan to replace Obamacare. At stake was hundreds of millions of dollars in Medicaid funding, which meant the possible reduction in eligibility for the program or cuts to provider payments.

HARI: Former Senate leader Teresa Paiva Weed is taking the helm at the Hospital Association of Rhode Island. Eleanor Slater Hospital just became its newest member. Former HARI head Mike Sousa is reportedly taking the top job at Landmark Medical Center as Ric Charest retires.

DCYF: Another damning report has come out from the Office of the Child Advocate investigating the deaths of four infants whose families were involved with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The report cites the opportunities DCYF missed to intervene and possibly prevent the deaths, including mis-categorizing calls to the hotline about the families as “information” or “referral” only rather than calls that needed to be investigated.
