It will be the first time in decades that Northampton has not held a Veteran’s Day parade. Brad LeVay is the president of the Veterans Council of Northampton. He said they had a hard time getting enough vets to march.

LeVay said younger veterans – from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – seem less interested in participating. Springfield will hold a parade again this year but Charly Lawrence, with the city’s veterans services, said attendance has been dropping there too.
Lawrence said she and her colleagues plan to carry on with an annual parade as long as they can, and the Northampton vets said they hope to revive the parade in the future.
