A Providence resident was charged Wednesday with stabbing a member of Governor Gina Raimondo’s administrative staff, Police say. Kenneth Suarez, 18, was charged with felony assault for allegedly stabbing Daniel Brown, 54, in the neck.

Brown is a Department of Labor and Training employee on assignment in the governor’s Constituent Affairs office where he handles job training opportunities.

Police found Brown bleeding from the neck in a home on Terrace Avenue at around 8:40 Tuesday night.  A trail of blood from the front door led police to Brown, who was sitting down on a couch with his roommate applying pressure to his wound.

Brown was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. He was in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday morning, according to the Providence Journal.  According to the police report, Kenneth Suarez was found a half an hour later covered in blood, after telling an unidentified woman that he had stabbed someone.
