We are happy to share some very exciting news that will allow our storytelling to make an even greater difference across Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.

Pending regulatory approval, The Public’s Radio plans to merge with our trusted colleagues at Rhode Island PBS. Read more about today’s announcement.

By bringing together our mission-aligned nonprofits, we will build a multi-platform, integrated organization that meets people where they are to deliver news and stories that matter. Pending regulatory approval, this merger will accelerate our capacity to seamlessly create and distribute fresh, relevant content to our current audiences, and to the many new audiences we hope to engage. In the meantime, know that you can continue to trust The Public’s Radio to keep you informed and connected; our program schedule is not changing.

This announcement is also just the first step in the process. As we await regulatory approval, we will be working with our teams across the two organizations to imagine what is possible for the future of public media across the region.

We firmly believe that we are stronger together, and we hope that you will join us on this journey as we work together to create an integrated public media entity that can represent the voices of our region for generations to come.

Stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, you can read more from our colleague Ian Donnis about this announcement here and view a list of FAQs.
